A year ago I very reluctantly turned up at the gym.
It had taken my husband years of pleading and nagging to get me to join up, anything for a quiet life! The thought of exercising in front of others, and especially “fit” people filled me with dread but worse was to follow… As I struggled through my induction gasping for breath, I realized the horrible truth. I was desperately overweight and totally unfit!
Armed with encouraging words from the staff and the food diary, I began the process of change but it was gradual and painful to begin with! I rediscovered muscles that had been dormant for years! A few pounds disappeared followed by a few more, belts started to get tightened, workmates started to notice. Such a thrill!
The staff were ever present to offer encouragement especially if the training was hard, and every week I had my PT session to keep me focused. It urged me on and pushed me just that little bit further. The weight continued to roll off. Boy I was feeling good! My confidence soared and I was really starting to enjoy my time at the gym. Each session left me on a real buzz and I had so much more energy. My PT sessions have really helped to motivate and keep me interested while Rosenna’s spin class has been an additional and fun challenge. My weight loss has continued and everyone in the gym has been so supportive.
A year on, I’ve lost 4 ½ St and gained so much more in energy and confidence! Long may it continue! The gym has become a part of my life and valuable “me” time. What a difference a year makes!
Yesterday I did my first ever run, 3 miles. I was so proud of myself!
It just proves the gym offers everyone the chance to experience new challenges and opportunities. Don’t miss out on yours!
Jackie.
